The Assumption of the Virgin, painting, 16th century, by the workshop of Vicente Gil and his son Manuel Vicente known as the Masters of Sardoal, in the Museu Nacional de Machado de Castro, Coimbra, Portugal. The painting was part of an altarpiece given to the Convento de Santa Clara by Queen Leonor, and it bears her ex libris and coat of arms. The museum was opened in 1913 and renovated 2004-2012. The city of Coimbra dates back to Roman times and was the capital of Portugal from 1131 to 1255....
