Stairs leading from the Lion Gate, which has a relief of a lion devouring the head of a bull, carved 6th century BC but added in the 5th century AD to lower the gate and make it easier to defend, Butrint, Chaonia, Albania. Butrint was founded by the Greek Chaonian tribe and was a port throughout Hellenistic and Roman times, when it was known as Buthrotum.
